Geburt:	12. Juni 1973 in Tuttlingen
Studium und beruflicher Werdegang:

1994 bis 1999:	Studium der Technischen Informatik an der Fachhochschule Konstanz. Abschluß als Dipl.-Inform. (FH).
Seit 1999:	Festanstellung als Software-Entwickler bei der IBL Ingenieur-büro Letters GmbH.

Kernkompetenzen:
</cvHtml>

    <cvHtml>
Simon Phipps is the Chief Software Evangelist at Sun Microsystems, responsible for expounding and explaining the 'big picture' of software. In particular, his
industry experience gives him unique insight into how open technologies like Java, XML, TCP/IP and JINI build together to form the foundation for dot-com computing in the 21st century. He has explained these ideas extensively at international events such as JavaOne, Seybold, Software Development, JavaAus, XMLOne, XML World and many more.

A computer industry insider of 20+ years standing, Simon has worked in such hands-on roles as field engineer, programmer and systems analyst as well as
being involved at a strategic level in some of the world's leading computer companies. Fascinated by the idea of 'action at a distance', he worked with OSI
standards in the eighties, on the first commercial collaborative conferencing software in the nineties, and helped introduce both Java and XML at IBM. He joined Sun in mid-2000.

He holds a degree in electronic engineering and is a Chartered Engineer and Member of the British Computer Society.

Simon lives in the UK with his wife and three children but is based in Silicon Valley in the US. With membership of airline frequent flyer clubs thus taken
care of, he is free to indulge in his favourite pastimes of reading, writing poetry, collecting music and playing with cool toys. He's also an occasional preacher at his local Church.
</cvHtml>

Department of the Brussels Free University, where he was involved in
research on Non-Archimedian Analysis.

In 1985 he joined the new Programming Technology Lab at the Brussels
Free University. His research activities centered on object-oriented
programming languages, with particular emphasis on reflective
architectures for concurrent language designs. Four years later he went
to SoftCore, a spin-off company of the university developing electronic
document and workflow management applications. There he led several
research projects on object-oriented frameworks for groupware
applications and application servers, and on the practical application
of reflection in real-life frameworks.

In 1994 he joined Unisys Belgium, where he applied his experience in a
commercial environment at the Argo project. As system architect he
designed and co-developed a very dynamic and highly configurable
object-oriented framework for building database, document management and
workflow applications. In 1999 he was appointed Architect Director
within Unisys. He is currently guiding the design and development of a
configurable framework for Web applications.

He spoke at several conferences on object-oriented technology, and he
published and reviewed papers on object-oriented framework technology.

His interests include reflective architectures, complex dynamic systems
theory and models of evolution, the integration of object-oriented and
declarative languages, distributed computing and 'smart' development
tools.
</cvHtml>
